Which Bulb Fits a Candle Warmer Lamp
A warmer lamp needs a GU10 halogen in the wattage printed on the lamp. Here is how to read the label and what a bulb costs.
The bulb is the heater
A candle warmer lamp has no hot plate. The bulb above the jar does the work. A halogen bulb turns most of its power into heat and throws it down in a tight beam. That beam melts the top of the candle and frees the scent.
So the bulb in a warmer lamp is a GU10 halogen. An LED with the same base lights the jar and leaves the wax hard, since it makes little heat.
Read the wattage on the lamp
Look for a label near the socket or under the base. It names the bulb type and a wattage: 25, 35 or 50 watts in most lamps. Buy that wattage.
A weaker bulb melts the wax slowly or only in the center. A stronger one can overheat the lamp and the jar. If the lamp has a dimmer, it is there to tune the heat, not to make up for the wrong bulb.
GU10 or GU10+C
Some labels say GU10+C. The C stands for a cover glass over the front of the bulb. Both types lock into the same socket and run on 120 volts.
If your label names GU10+C, take that one. Our covered bulb is also a little shorter at 2 in tall, which helps in a small shade.
What a bulb costs
Warmer bulbs burn for hours at a time, so they wear out. The maker rates these at 3,000 hours. Buying a pack means the spare is in the drawer when the lamp goes dark.
The table shows every pack of our two GU10 halogen lines with the price of one bulb. Let the old bulb cool before you take it out. Buyers often use a rubber glove for grip.
