About the GU10 Halogen Bulb, 120V Dimmable
- Twist-lock GU10 base Two short pins with flat feet push in and turn a quarter to lock. No transformer sits between the bulb and 120V house power.
- Three wattages 25W gives 220 lumens, 35W gives 380 and 50W gives 500. All three share the same 2800K warm white.
- Dims from 10 to 100 percent A halogen filament dims on an ordinary dimmer, and the light turns warmer as it goes down.
- 36 degree beam The reflector throws a tight cone, so the light lands on a countertop, a painting or the top of a candle.

Where it fits
This is the bulb you reach for when a candle warmer lamp goes dark. The lamp melts wax from above with the heat of a halogen beam, so the wattage matters more than the brightness. A lamp built for 25 watts melts slower with less and may overheat the jar with more. Read the sticker near the socket and buy the same number. In a track head or a range hood the same rule holds: stay at or under the wattage printed on the fixture.
Check before you buy
- The base on your old bulb has two short pins with flat feet, not thin straight pins.
- The wattage printed on your lamp or fixture is 25W, 35W or 50W.
- The opening is at least 2 in wide, since the bulb measures 1.96 in across the face.

Pick another one if
It is not the bulb for a 12 volt fixture. A low-voltage MR16 looks the same from the front, but it has two thin straight pins and runs through a transformer. This one will not seat in that socket. It also runs hot, as every halogen does, so let it cool before you touch it. If you want light without the heat, our GU10 LED uses 5 watts, but it will not melt a candle.
LED option
Vinaco GU10 LED Bulb, 5W 120V
The same GU10 base at 5W. It runs cooler and is rated for 30,000 hours. It does not dim.

They don't last long but they work
This was my second pack of these bulbs for track lighting. I only had two from the first batch last beyond 8 months with modest use. I'm hoping for better with this batch but at the price they are not too bad and nice form factor. You have to use the suction cup to replace them because they way they go in is a challenge if you don't use the suction cup. Also make sure they are completely cooled down before trying to replace as they get hot and can take a while to cool down even after they blow.
Works well and worth the cost
I use these for the range over my stove and they work well and last a fairly long time although they do get very hot (but I think that's the nature of halogen bulbs). My only complaint is that they're difficult to install and remove, at least for the range I have. I've discovered that wearing rubber gloves (the type I use for washing dishes) makes it easier to install/remove since they're sort of grippy against the glass of the bulb.
Don't use 24/7
Does the job. I use mine to heat fragrance candles in bathrooms, therefore I leave them 24/7. Unfortunately the bulb only last a couple of weeks. I will try to turn on when I have company
Bulbs are great.
We use the bulbs in a candle warmer. They are amazing. No risk of fire like an open flame candle. Very pleased with product.
GU10 Halogen Bulb, 120V Dimmable: questions
Which wattage does my candle warmer lamp need?
Use the wattage on the lamp's label or in its manual. Most warmer lamps name 25W, 35W or 50W. A lower wattage melts the wax more slowly, and a higher one can overheat the lamp.
Is GU10 the same as MR16?
MR16 is the shape: a reflector 2 in across. GU10 is the base. This bulb is an MR16 with a GU10 twist-lock base for 120V. The 12V kind has a GU5.3 base with two straight pins.
Can I use it on a dimmer?
Yes. It dims from 10 to 100 percent on a standard incandescent dimmer.
