GU10 base

Two short pins with flat feet, 10 mm apart. It runs on 120 volts. See all eight bases

Where it fits

Track heads and recessed cans that burn all evening are where this swap pays off. The bulb has the MR16 shape and the same twist-lock base, so it turns into the socket your halogen left. It draws 5 watts, starts at full brightness and stays far cooler to the hand. A box of six relights a whole track.

Check before you buy

  • The switch for these fixtures is a plain on and off switch, not a dimmer.
  • Your socket is a 120V GU10 twist-lock.
  • You know which white you want: 2700K matches halogen, 5000K is cooler and bluer.

Pick another one if

Two limits are worth knowing before you order. It is not dimmable, so on a dimmer circuit it may flicker or hum. Keep halogen there. And it will not run a candle warmer lamp, which needs the heat of a halogen beam to melt wax.

Halogen original

Vinaco GU10 Halogen Bulb, 120V Dimmable

The same GU10 base in halogen, 25–50W. It dims on any dimmer and gives off heat.

GU10 LED Bulb, 5W 120V: questions

Can this LED replace the bulb in my candle warmer?

No. A warmer lamp melts wax with heat, and a 5W LED gives off too little. Use the GU10 halogen in the wattage your lamp names.

Is it dimmable?

No. Both colors are non-dimmable. Use them on a standard switch.

What is the difference between 2700K and 5000K?

2700K is a warm, yellowish white close to halogen. 5000K is a neutral daylight white that looks crisper on work surfaces.
