How to choose Vinaco Bi-Pin & Mini Halogen Bulbs

  • Look at the pins first

Loops mean G9. Straight pins 8 mm apart mean G8. Fine pins 4 mm apart mean G4. A tiny screw base means E11.

  • Then the voltage

G9, G8 and E11 run on 120V. G4 runs on 12V and fails at once on house power.

  • Handle with a cloth

Skin oil on the glass makes a hot spot and shortens the life of a halogen capsule.

Vinaco Bi-Pin & Mini Halogen Bulbs: questions

Are G8 and G9 bulbs interchangeable?

No. A G9 has looped pins and a G8 has straight ones. Each fits only its own socket.

Which Vinaco bulb goes in an under-cabinet puck light?

A 120V puck light usually takes the 20W G8. A 12V cabinet strip takes the G4.
